Preparing Engineers for a Competitive Job Market

Although demand for engineers is on the rise, recent headlines say that jobs were engineers’ top concern in 2011.

What’s up with that, you ask? Top thinkers at prestigious universities are continually asking themselves this very question (well, maybe not that exact question).

That’s why I recently sat down with GA Tech’s Lori Critz, head of the campus’ prestigious Faculty Engagement Department, to discuss dynamic GA Tech programs that prepare students for the job market,  fully connect students and faculty, and give insight on what top engineering companies are looking for in tomorrow’s graduates.

Design, Welds and the Future of Steel

For the past century, welding has been a fundamental aspect of design, and according to Andrew Davis from the American Welding Society (AWS), that isn’t going to change anytime soon.

As AWS partnered with Knovel to release our latest subject area: Welding Engineering and Materials Joining, I recently sat down with Andrew to talk about innovative welding techniques, the challenge of changing international safety standards and above all–why steel is here to stay.
